Detroit car (finally!) make a profit

NEW YORK (CNNMoney)–U.S. automakers all three are on track to become a profi 2011 when they reported the results in the coming weeks. It is something that has not happened since 2004.

General Motors ( Fortune 500) is expected to post a 26% increase in profits to an estimated $ 6.1 billion.

Ford ( Fortune 500) profit is expected to come in about $ 7 billion, up from $ 6.6 billion it made in the year 2010, the car the best performance since 1999.
